I am very pleased to write about how "Orpheus," one of my last student films, won Silver for Best Student Female Director this June, 2024 in the Independent Shorts Awards from Los Angeles.
In this piece, I returned to my theatrical roots and focused on an old and well-beloved story about a musician in heartbreak. In 'Orpheus,' I wanted to focus on film as a dreamscape, which I think with the help of Director of Photography, Anirudh Ganapathy, we accomplished as a team.
Film festivals for me still feel a bit out of my depth. I know there are many fests that are in-genuine, but the best thing to do is try. That is exactly what I'm up to - and I'm hopeful for the rest of 2024.
