As we get closer and closer to that spooky season, our team is looking towards some new stories. Before I say too much, let's check in with the festivals for 'Beyond Us' and 'Orpheus!' As a new filmmaker, learning how and what to apply for has been a journey, and I am just glad to be here - continuing to grow new tales of legends and lore. Anyway, let's get into where things stand...
'Beyond Us' has so far received an official selection for the Independent Shorts Awards in Los Angeles for the month of September (and maybe October), at this time still in the running towards best student female director and for best acting duo. It also was awarded for the Remember the Future: World Film Festival in Cannes for 'Best Student Film' earlier this year. It now also received an official selection with the Los Angeles Film and Documentary Awards. Hopefully more to come, as my last student film!

'Orpheus,' one of my favorite pieces during my time in grad school prior to the Beyond Us Team, was also accepted into the Independent Shorts Awards in Los Angeles, winning the Silver Award for Best Student Female Director in June. It has now received an official selection from the Something Wicked Festival in Atlanta, Georgia. Unfortunately, the official event got cancelled, but I would still take this as a win.
To add to this, my fun, creative art piece 'Appalachian Forests' was officially selected in the juried exhibition for the Northern Appalachian Folk Festival in Indiana, PA at the Fox Clark Gallery. It was made in such a spur of the moment, the Beyond Us Team was also unavailable for this piece.
